Carrick Aland’s Business Manager Noel Brownsey is a man of action in and out of the office.
Having grown up on a sugar cane farm and working his way through the agricultural sector, Noel has built up extensive experience in manufacturing scheduling and human resources.
When his international travel commitments started to throw out the balance, Noel took the opportunity to join Alands in 2008 and take the Business Manager role from a part-time position to coordinating Carrick Aland’s needs across four businesses.
Noel’s main priority is being a conduit for the Carrick Aland team and Directors.
“I make sure our HR function keeps our team happy and that our resourcing is right,” says Noel. “I also follow up debtors and generally carry out the day to day management of suppliers.”
“I am fairly goal focussed and pursue targets around the key performance indicators set for myself and Carrick Aland, which I tenaciously try to achieve,” says Noel. “The reward is that feeling of achievement that they’ve been done.”
With his 30 years of experience, Noel has even assisted clients on some HR projects around payroll, awards, rates and advice but at this time of year his focus is on Carrick Aland’s performance reviews and budgeting.
Under his expert management, Carrick Aland is poised for Single Touch Payroll from 1 July. But, after 10 years with Carrick Aland, what stands out is the clients.
“We have good, long-term clients based rurally. I wasn’t used to that in my previous roles so it was all new to me,” Noel added. “Being able to help contribute to how Carrick Aland looks after them is one of the reasons why I enjoy my role.”
Noel Brownsey has spent the majority of his career working in rural businesses. Based in Carrick Aland’s Dalby office, Noel grew up on the family’s sugar cane farm in Mackay before joining the Bank of NSW. He then sold farm machinery – when operations closed in Melbourne, Noel came to Dalby with that business. Dingo Mini Diggers then enjoyed Noel’s leadership as their GM for 13 years before joining Aland Accountants in September 2008. He is a Justice of the Peace and holds a Diploma in Business.
Noel has been a member of Dalby Lions since 2002. He is currently their Hon Secretary. He has completed the Kokoda Trail and continues to undertake major treks 2-3 times year as well as being a keen runner.
